Peace clubs give youth a voice in Konchian-Gberuk
How school-based peace clubs are helping young people resolve disputes and build trust.
June 15, 2024 · APRED-GHANA team
In communities across Bunkpurugu-Nakpanduri, young people often bear the brunt of unresolved conflict. APRED-GHANA supports peace clubs that teach dialogue, mediation, and leadership skills.
Facilitators work with teachers and traditional leaders so clubs are safe spaces—not political platforms. Students practice resolving everyday disagreements before they escalate.
Early results show fewer violent incidents near participating schools and stronger youth participation in community meetings. We continue to expand this model with local partners.
